Managing Information 2 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Overseeing Information 2 - Essay Example Thus there are various IT-related issues that have emerged in the ongoing past; some of them are talked about in this after. IT-related Issues Protecting data privacy surely positions among the most squeezing IT-related issues. This identifies with how a data proficient or whatever other individual who approaches favored data should treat it and handle it to guarantee it doesn't get into an inappropriate hands and become inconvenient to other people (Strassman, 2000). It is accordingly consistent that data introduced as secret ought to be treated all things considered. Many individuals are required to give their own data, for example, complete names, living arrangement, age, sexual orientation, government managed savings number, individual distinguishing proof card numbers and a great deal of other private data while applying for Mastercards, visas and other authoritative reports; if not took care of with the necessary secrecy this data can be utilized by fraudsters and impersonators to siphon money from the clueless open. A data innovation expert ought to guarantee that secret data is taken care of with classification. For example, by not tapping other peoples’ telephones or leading observation that interrupts the security of others. The other issue is security. Customarily, everybody is lawfully qualified for sensible protection. Under the security rights an individual is qualified for sensible mystery, obscurity and isolation (Payne and Landry, 2006). Obscurity ensures that the individual isn't exposed to undesired consideration; mystery guarantees that customized data isn't disseminated to others who are not conscious of it while isolation permits one to genuinely be away from others. This has not changed even despite the quick changing mechanical condition. Nowadays, with the shut circuit TV cameras, one can get entrance into another person’s private life and know each and every detail of it. The problem emerges while deciding if it is moral and lawful to do as such (Davis, 2010). The assurance is anyway difficult as the subject is unpredictable and multifaceted and relies upon the conditions or nature. For instance, there are nations that will permit the encroachment of protection rights with the end goal of national security. Simultaneously there are defenders that contend that one’s’ security rights ought to never be damaged under any conditions. Data experts are commanded to deal with advantaged data. With this benefit comes a duty; that of guaranteeing that that data doesn't cause hurts in their method of creation, association, scattering and use (Jana, 1998). The moral and good codes administering human direct ought to be watched. This data need not really influence people straightforwardly; they may influence a country’s security or economy. An a valid example is that of Julian Assange, the supervisor of WikiLeaks who discharged arranged data of various nations to general society. Assange is an educational technologist and a cultivated software engineer. He got possessing some delicate data, some that legitimately sway on the national security of the US yet he proceeded to disperse that data without considering the damage it could do (Burstein, 2012). IT advancement has empowered fast dispersal of

Transport Unit 4 Individual task - Research Paper Example Notwithstanding these components, perspective that makes the Ohlin’s hypothesis better over the old style introduction is the way that it gauges the near preferred position as far as cash (Davis, 1995). This is rather than the classical’s suggestion that states the job of work and got enormous analysis for non-clearness. Ohlin’s clarification at the cost contrasts in universal exchange accounts the flexibly factors in detail when contrasted with Ricardian’s just work proficiency gift. Thus for the financial matters and economist’s success, Ohlin contributed with recognizable proof of components that lead to the global exchange than Ricardian’s ordinary old style approach of government assistance advocate (Van Marrewijk, 2012). Another point that makes the Ohlin’s work notice worth is the clarification of the salary appropriation among accomplices. Ohlin attests the job of variables of creation in dissemination of salary among exchangin g accomplices. Subsequently, increasingly arranged type of components of creation being land, work, capital and business person is essential to comprehend the substance of job and effect of universal exchange. Worldwide exchange kept on being the factor of discussion. Staffan Linder, financial expert later, upheld the idea of Leontief and added another measurement to it. In the perspective on Staffan Linder universal exchange has diverse clarification for producer and horticulture. Staffan saw the factor blessing hypothesis working for essential (horticulture) products yet the bantered on the clarification to be powerful for assembling merchandise. In his view the universal exchange of assembling merchandise doesn't relies upon abundance measure of work and capital in the nation, however it is driven by the interest at the household level and factor enrichment at national level has little commitment. In the event that different nations don't interest for the abundance creation that is been embraced in the supplier’s nation then the creation will be futile. ANSWER TO THE QUESTION FROM AUDIENCE SPECIFIC TARIFF It is a measure of cash that doesn't fluctuate with the cost of good. The economic situations or expansion don't affect on explicit levies. Major General Robert E. Rodes - American Civil War

Robert E. Rodes - Early Life Career: Born March 29, 1829 in Lynchburg, VA, Robert Emmett Rodes was the son of David and Martha Rodes.   Raised in the area, he elected to attend the Virginia Military Institute with an eye towards a military career.   Graduating in 1848, ranked tenth in a class of twenty-four, Rodes was asked to remain at VMI as an assistant professor.   Over the next two years he taught a variety of subjects including physical science, chemistry, and tactics.   In 1850, Rodes departed the school after failing to secure a promotion to professor.   This instead went to his future commander, Thomas J. Jackson. Traveling south, Rodes found employment with a series of railroads in Alabama.   In September 1857, he married Virginia Hortense Woodruff of Tuscaloosa.   The couple would ultimately have two children.   Serving as the chief engineer of the Alabama Chattanooga Railroad, Rodes held the post until 1861.   With the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter and beginning of the Civil War that April, he offered his services to the state of Alabama.   Appointed colonel of the 5th Alabama Infantry, Rodes organized the regiment at Camp Jeff Davis in Montgomery that May. Robert E. Rodes - Early Campaigns: Ordered north, Rodes regiment served in Brigadier General Richard S. Ewells brigade at the First Battle of Bull Run on July 21.   Recognized by General P.G.T. Beauregard as an excellent officer, Rodes received a promotion to brigadier general on October 21.   Assigned to Major General Daniel H. Hills division, Rodes brigade joined General Joseph E. Johnstons army in early 1862 for the defense of Richmond.   Operating against Major General George B. McClellans Peninsula Campaign, Rodes first led his new command in combat at the Battle of Seven Pines on May 31.   Mounting a series of attacks, he sustained a wound in his arm and was forced from the field.    Ordered to Richmond to recover, Rodes rejoined his brigade early and led it at the Battle of Gaines Mill on June 27.   Not fully healed, he was force to leave his command a few days later prior to the fighting at Malvern Hill.   Out action until late that summer, Rodes returned to the Army of Northern Virginia as General Robert E. Lee commenced his invasion of Maryland. On September 14, his brigade mounted a stiff defense at Turners Gap during the Battle of South Mountain.   Three days later, Rodes men turned back Union assaults against the Sunken Road at the Battle of Antietam.   Wounded by shell fragments during the fighting, he remained at his post.   Later that fall, Rodes was present at the Battle of Fredericksburg, but his men were not engaged. Robert E. Rodes - Chancellorsville Gettysburg: In January 1863, Hill was transferred to North Carolina.   Though the corps commander, Jackson, desired to give command of the division to Edward Allegheny Johnson, this officer could not accept due to wounds sustained at McDowell.   As a result, the position fell to Rodes as the senior brigade commander in the division.   The first division commander in Lees army to not have attended West Point, Rodes repaid Jacksons confidence at the Battle of Chancellorsville in early May.   Spearheading Jacksons audacious flank attack against Major General Joseph Hookers Army of the Potomac, his division shattered Major General Oliver O. Howards XI Corps.   Severely wounded in the fighting, Jackson requested that Rodes be promoted to major general before dying on May 10. With the loss of Jackson, Lee reorganized the army and Rodes division moved into Ewells newly-formed Second Corps.   Advancing into Pennsylvania in June, Lee ordered his army to concentrate around Cashtown in early July.   Obeying this order, Rodes Division was moving south from Carlisle on July 1 when word was received of fighting at Gettysburg.   Arriving north of the town, he deployed his men on Oak Hill facing the right flank of Major General Abner Doubledays I Corps.   Through the day, he launched a series of disjointed attacks which suffered heavy losses before finally dislodging Brigadier General John C. Robinsons division and elements of XI Corps.   Pursuing the enemy south through the town, he halted his men before they could assault Cemetery Hill.   Though tasked with supporting attacks on Cemetery Hill the next day, Rodes and his men played little role in the rest of the battle. Robert E. Rodes - Overland Campaign: Active in the Bristoe and Mine Run Campaigns that fall, Rodes continued to lead his division in 1864.   In May, he helped opposed Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grants Overland Campaign at the Battle of the Wilderness where the division attacked Major General Gouverneur K. Warren V Corps.   A few days later, Rodes division took part in the savage fighting at the Mule Shoe Salient at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House.   The remainder of May saw the division participate in the fighting at North Anna and Cold Harbor.   After reaching Petersburg in early June, Second Corps, now led by Lieutenant General Jubal A. Early, received orders to depart for the Shenandoah Valley. Robert E. Rodes - In the Shenandoah:         Tasked with defending the Shenandoah and drawing troops away from the siege lines at Petersburg, Early moved down (north) the valley sweeping aside Union forces.   Crossing the Potomac, he then sought to menace Washington, DC.   Marching east, he engaged Major General Lew Wallace at Monocacy on July 9.   In the fighting, Rodes men moved along the Baltimore Pike and demonstrated against Jug Bridge.   Overwhelming Wallaces command, Early then reached Washington and skirmished against Fort Stevens before withdrawing back into Virginia.   The efforts of Earlys troops had the desired effect as Grant dispatched sizable forces north with orders to eliminate the Confederate threat in the Valley. In September, Early found himself opposed by Major General Philip H. Sheridans Army of the Shenandoah.   Concentrating his forces at Winchester, he tasked Rodes with holding the Confederate center.   On September 19, Sheridan opened the Third Battle of Winchester and commenced a large-scale attack against the Confederate lines.   With Union troops driving back both of Earlys flanks, Rodes was cut down by an exploding shell as he worked to organize a counterattack.   Following the battle, his remains were taken back to Lynchburg where he was buried at the  Presbyterian Cemetery.         Ã‚   Selected Sources VMIs Civil War Generals: Robert E. Climate Change In India And Changing Impactâ€Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Climate Change In India And Changing Impact? Answer: Introducation Climate and environment is continuously changing and it is affecting each country significantly. There are various reasons of environmental change in the countries. Sometimes it can be because of unnecessary and asymmetrical activities such as burning of fuel oils, coals and usual gases, agricultural clearance etc. High level of heat in climate, melting snow, and increased sea level globally etc. in the simple words, in current time climate change is one of the critical issues faced by every country. In terms of definition, climate change can be described as the differences in the climate at the global level of the earth. Climate change in the environment can be defined in different ways. Some of the researchers have defined the climate change as the disorder of the natural process on the earth (Brger et al, 2012). On the other hand, some defined the climate change as the significant change which is linked with the human activities directly or indirectly along with the combination of natural climate variability. Now, various countries and researchers are raising the concern about the climate changes and its impacts. Various incidents of the climate change are recorded in all over the world. This report describes the business changes in the climate and impact of climate change in India. Along with this, the report also gives the probable resolutions to deal with the issue of change in environment. Climate change affecting world Because of climate change, not only one or two countries, but also entire world is facing problem. The changes in the environment and climate impact on the various parts of the society such as industries, ecosystem and communities. It is observed that heat in the environment is continuously increasing and rainfall is decreasing gradually since last few years. Reduced rainfall is the main cause of the climate change that is affecting overall world. Along with this, it is also seen that there is the continuous change in the temperature, sea level and level of rainfall. It has to be understood that the climate change is the cause of many activities in the environment. Climate change raises the temperature in the atmosphere and with the high temperature; various changes take place on the earth. For example, high temperature can be the cause of excessive rain, more floods, more heat waves and droughts. Further, some changes also take place in the ocean and glaciers i.e. glaciers are melti ng gradually, water in the oceans are warming and becoming acidic, and sea levels are increasing that is affecting human on the earth. Since last few years, these changes are frequently happening and challenging to the world and the environment of human beings (Feyen Dankers 2009). Factors of climate change in India Climate change is affecting every country in all over the world but this report is basically covering the country India. Climate change is one of the complex issues facing mankind today. This is the evident of various observations of increment of global air and ocean temperatures, melting of snow and ice and raising sea level. It also increases variety of the challenges with the wide-ranging effects. Along with this, climate change has significant impacts on the conditions of the agriculture. Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy that provides food and livelihood security to the most of the population of Indian society. Agriculture is significantly affected not only by the increased and decreased rainfall but also shifts in the timings of the rainfall (Dillman 2015). Changes in the patterns of rainfall are the serious threat for the agriculture, economy and food security in India. Further, rise in the temperature also affects the environment of India as rise in the temper ature is the cause of increment in the green house gases and affect the crops differently from region to region in the country. High level of floods, deficiency, storms and cyclones are distressing the environment in the country India. There are various problems in India because of climate change such as concern in the farming and cultivation, water stress, rising sea level, issues of food security, biodiversity and risk on human health (Kakkar, 2014). There are some climate changes that are observed during some years and those are as follows: Rise in sea levels- 70% of earths surface includes of water in the form of ocean and sea. Sea level is rising due to global warming. Sea level is rising due to thermal extension as well as melting of glaciers. Global temperature is increasing 3 to 4 degree and the result is that 330 million people would be permanently or temporarily relocated because of flood. There is the high level of risk due to the rise of sea level as the result of global warming. It is predictable that the big coastal region will be covered with the increased of sea level. These climate changes are creating problems for the country India and cause much human hardship. The Ganges-Brahmaputra delta of India is supposed to be extremely at risky region as water level in this area will rise in the upcoming year. The impact of increased level of sea can be seen in the Bangladesh and Sunderbans. In this view, India is facing serious issues in terms of climate change. According to accounting to the estimation of Asian Development Bank (AD B), if there is one meter rise in the sea level everyday then around 7 million people in India would be displaced (McKinsey company, 2009). Figure 1: Rise in sea level (Source: Mclendon, 2016) Water condition- The condition of water in current time is the critical issues and serious threat in the environmental change of India. Resources of water are continuously dealing of difficulty under the threat of climate change. In recent years, Himalayan region is changing gradually because of the high level use of land such as deforestation, urbanization and agriculture practices. Along with this, high level of temperature in the atmosphere, the pattern of rain fall is changing continuously. It is observed that the demand of water is increasing for the production of crops in sufficient manner but now, there is no ample amount of water for the agriculture due to the continuous climate change. Further, global warming is also one of the reasons that are affecting the water security in the country. Safety of water is the critical matter in the country in terms of the development of the agriculture (Poornima, 2015). Greenhouse gases- Carbon dioxide is the main greenhouse gas in the environment. Because of the changes in the land use patterns, land clearing, deforestation, agriculture, and other activities, level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is continuously increasing. Further, another important gas in the greenhouse is Methane as of all methane emissions come from the domesticated animals like goats, cows, camels, sheep, pigs and horses. All these animals produce methane during the cud-chewing process. Rice and paddy fields release methane that is flooded during the maturing periods. When the soil in the fields is covered with the water, it lacks oxygen in the fields. In such situation, methane producing bacteria affect the atmosphere and impact on the lives of human beings in India (Sharp, 2009). Figure 2: Greenhouse emission Solar variations- Sun is the greatest source of energy on the climate system of the earth. Although the energy of the sun appears constant everyday but there are small changes in the heat of sun that are observed. There are some scientists who suspect that the heat in the climate would be increased in the first half of 20th century due to the increase in the output of solar energy. The changes in the solar energy would be the cause of significant climate change as sun is the basic source of energy in the climate system. Increased heat in the atmosphere has negative impact on the climate and affecting the people in the country. Global warming is the cause of more active sun and scientists are expecting the temperature to become warmer in all the layer of the atmosphere. This is because of the greenhouse gases capturing heat in the lower atmosphere. It is estimated that by 2020, the heat will increase continuously. Figure 3: Rise in temperature Further, climate change can also be the cause of human actions such as conversion of land for the agriculture and forestry and burning of fossil fuels. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change, there are three major reason of the increment in the greenhouse gases that are analyzed over the past 250 year i.e. fossil fuels, agriculture and land use. From the starting of the industrial uprising, there is the human being influence on the climate system of India as well as world. In the climate, greenhouse gases are increasing continuously due to the human activities such as fossil fuel burning and deforestation and methane emission. Humans are cutting down the trees and there is the extra carbon in the environment and increasing the greenhouse effect. India is geographically connected by the Indian Ocean which is known as third largest ocean in the world and the climate on the India is primarily affected by the activities within the ocean (Ravindranath, Joshi Jayaraman , 2012). Impact of Environmental change on India Climate change is the serious matter in all over the world as it is creating various challenges for every country. In such situation, India is facing some impacts on the people of country. Country is facing some tough situations due to the climate change such as issue in the farming, troubles of food safety, increasing of sea intensity, hazard on people wellbeing, risk of food security etc. Climate change has high level of significance from the viewpoint of India. Impact of the agriculture and food security- Environmental change has negative effect on the Indian farming system. Because of increased temperature, high level of rainfall, melting glacier, the climate change is impacting on the production of various crops. Climate change affects the agriculture in many different ways. It is well known that the agriculture is the crucial part of Indian economy and the source of livelihood of people in the country. So, rainfall pattern in the country affect the productivity of agriculture. The productivity of various crops is decreasing continuously because of the heat waves, high temperature and scarcity of the water. There are high frequencies of overflow, cyclones, deficiency and rainstorms impacts on the agriculture creation in the country (Mclendon, 2016). Impact on biodiversity- India is the country of various culture and biodiversity regarding deserts to ice sheets. In current time, environmental change is undermining the biological system of the country India. It is well known that the Himalayan ecosystem is the lifeline of India. Monsoon is basically depends upon the environment of India and monsoon is the basic need for the farming and irrigation. Environmental change is the basic cause of varying patterns of monsoon in the country (Dubash and Jogesh, 2014). Impact on human health- It is observed that the climate change is the significant impact on the human health of the country. There is the air pollution due to the climate change that is impacting on the health of human beings. The researchers have suggested that the health problems in the country would be increased because of continuous climate change. Further, it is estimated that the number of death would also be increased due to air pollution. High global temperature is the reason of increment in the frequency of floods along with the risk of disease of infection among the people (Kumar Gambhir, 2013). Climate change risk assessment In India, impact of climate change can be seen very clearly on various parts of the country. No any country can afford to sit on the sideline as the impact of climate change is increasing gradually. Although India is not responsible for any kind of promise in dropping the negative impact of greenhouse emission and climate change but the country is equally contributing to the negotiation of climate change. According to the various researchers, there are many developed countries that are responsible for the climate change. So, in such manner, those developed countries should do commitments in way of decreasing the negative impact of climate change on the people (Jha, 2014). Further, India is trying to commit to the way of sustainable development. It is estimated that per capita emissions of the carbon gases in India is little but country should adopt a national action plan for the climate change. India is a responsible country in the world so, country should support at the internationa l level in terms of economy and right to use of technology till the year 2030 (Bal, Bhaskaran Palanivelu, 2016). The country is attending international conference on the concept of climate change to develop of clean technologies in terms of environment friendly. India should try to convince the developed nations to exchange cleaner vitality advancements that are eco-friendly sound so that developing countries could be able to use it. India is the collaborator of Asia Pacific Partnership on clean development and climate. By this, country should focus on the transfer of efficient and clean technologies to deal with the issue of climate change (Ghosh Ray, 2015). Proposed Measurements The contribution of the country India towards reducing the impact of negative gases is very little and the Indian government should use various actions to enhance the condition in terms of climate change. The department of forests and environment is the key organization in India to solve the issue of climate change. India should take new initiatives in terms climate friendly measures to deal with the threat of climate change (Rajya Sabha secretariat, 2008). In this manner, country should focus on the renewable energy programs. Along with this, India should adopt a wide range of measures and approaches for creating alertness about the climate change among the people of the country. The National Forest Policy should provide dynamic actions to decrease the impact of carbon gases in the country. Apart from this, Indian government should conduct various programs to protect the forests and lands in the country. The programs should cover around six million hectare land in the country within next 10 years (Hallegatte, 2009). Conclusion This report discusses about the issues of climate change that is affecting various countries in all over the world. From the above discussion, it is observed that the continuous climate change is the serious threat in current situation. This is the big threat in terms of advancement and growth of every country. The danger of environmental change ought to be tended to by the developing nations. This report basically focuses on the developing country India. From the above discussion, it is can be said that there should be combined effort of all the developing nations with the mutual efforts that would be helpful to deal with the issue of climate change. Those nations should utilize another pattern in terms of economy for efficient advancement of the atmosphere. It is estimated that current economic, ecological and demographic situation of the overall world is quite indefensible. If the countries put efforts in limitations of the human activities towards the environment, the impact of c limate change can be reduced significantly. Sustainable development is needed to deal with the scarce of water, land, air, energy and biodiversity along with the more cooperative ideas and measurements by the countries. friendship Essays (473 words) - Friendship, Love,

"What is a friend? A single soul, dwelling in two bodies" - Aristotle True friendship is perhaps the only relation that survives the trials and tribulations of time and remains unconditional. A unique blend of affection, loyalty, love, respect, trust and loads of fun is perhaps what describes the true meaning of friendship. Similar interests, mutual respect and strong attachment with each other are what friends share between each other. These are just the general traits of a friendship. To experience what is friendship, one must have true friends, who are indeed rare treasure. Friendship is a feeling of comfort and emotional safety with a person. It is when you do not have to weigh your thoughts and measure words, before keeping it forth before your friend. It is when someone knows you better than yourself and assures to be your side in every emotional crisis. It is when you can sleep fighting and get another morning with a better understanding. Friendship is much beyond roaming together and sharing good moments, it is when someone comes to rescue you from the worst phase of life. Friendship is eternal. Different people have different definitions of friendship. For some, it is the trust in an individual that he / she won't hurt you. For others, it is unconditional love. There are some who feel that friendship is companionship. People form definitions based on the kind of experiences they have had. This is one relation that has been nurtured since time immemorial. There are famous stories about friends in mythologies of different religions all over the world. They say a person who has found a faithful friend has found a priceless treasure. Psychologically speaking, friendship may be defined as 'a dynamic, mutual relationship between two individuals. As children become friends, they negotiate boundaries within which both partners function'. This helps them to function like healthy individuals in life as they learn to draw a line as and when needed in a relation. This greatly helps in the emotional development of an individual. However, any relation needs constant nurturing and development from all the people that are involved in one. Friendship cannot survive if one person makes all the effort to sustain it without any mutual recognition from others. Since friendship starts the moment a child starts socializing, the kind of friends that the child chooses should be taken care of till the time he / she learns to differentiate between right and wrong. Wrong peers or lack of socializing can lead to severe psychological traumas and disorders, finally leading to social maladjustment. The correct peer group is essential for the development of the personality of a child. Both positive and negative experiences refine the personality of the individual. Thus it is essential that you find friends who are compatible with you on an emotional and psychological basis.

6 steps to set yourself up for career success

6 steps to set yourself up for career success Do you want to set yourself up for success? Of course, you do- we all want that- most of us strive for happy, successful lives. However, what success means to each of us is a unique and individual thing, based on our specific desires and goals. It also changes over time for each of us- your professional goals and metrics for success when you’re at the beginning of your career path will probably look different than when you’re older and further along in your journey. Forbes recently published an article that highlights some helpful actions that you can take to achieve career success. According to the article, â€Å"no matter what your professional goals and visions are, there are six core actions that will support you to achieve greater success and fulfillment over the long arch of your professional life.†Consider taking advantage of these strategies to set yourself up for a successful future.Make a solid plan.If you want to achieve some measure of career success in your life, you first have to have a clearly discernible and measurable goal to pursue. There’s nothing more dispiriting and unmotivating than a directionless future. Defining a clear goal for yourself- one that will potentially deliver happiness and fulfillment when reached- will help you gain a healthy measure of clarity and allow you to carve out the steps necessary to achieve it.Don’t be afraid to set a specific goal out of fear that you’ll be handcuffed to it forever. Remember, your goals will likely change over time and across the span of your career. Also, don’t be afraid to fail- a life well lived often contains a series of successes and failures. The goal is to learn from both and take these valuable lessons to help guide you towards future success.Transform your depression.Depression can stop all forward progress in your life dead in its tracks. The Forbes article discusses making the effort to turn your depression into inspiration in order to get yourself back on the path to success: â€Å"This is a vitally important endeavor- to move away from feeling desperate, victimized and out of control in the face of your professional challenges.  The key is to learn how to be more accountable, responsible and capable- viewing what’s happening as a way for you to learn and grow.†There is never a time when things will always go your way. You are going to face setbacks and failures throughout your life, and despite your best efforts they can drag you down into a funk. Fight against it the best you can. Assess why you’re down, what went wrong, and how to avoid the same situation in the future. Make a plan about how you’ll climb out of your sadness and self-doubt. Action gives you control, which can make the skies seem a little clearer.Enforce boundaries.Once you have set a clear path towards success for yourself, it’s up to you to set and enforce boundaries that will allow you to keep on track. K eep away habits, people, and behaviors that will only drag you down. Depending on your goals, these boundaries will comprise your personal â€Å"mission statement†- capturing the priorities and steps needed for you to learn, grow, and move forward toward career success. It will also clarify things to avoid along the way- those unhealthy and negative things that only serve to derail your progress. In all areas of life, boundaries help us stay on track and reach our desired destination- use them to your full advantage and don’t be shy about sticking up for yourself and what you need.Commit yourself fully.Achieving your professional goals can be a real challenge- in addition to intense competition and hard work, there are a variety of unforeseen setbacks and obstacles that can potentially throw you off track along the way. Even the luckiest and most successful among us face these challenges- the key difference between those who eventually achieve success and those who giv e up before they reach their goals is often commitment. Put in those extra hours. When you fail, try again. When you get rejected, apply somewhere else. Keep your plan and goal in mind and don’t stop when you veer off course- and you  will veer off course, so plan on it.Learn how to communicate with power.Your voice can be a powerful tool as you advocate for yourself in the professional world. Successful individuals in all walks of like make sure they are clearly and confidently articulating their ideas, thoughts, visions, and goals to the world around them, and are constantly their own best advocates, striving to create positive outcomes whenever possible. As you travel along your path to success, make sure you follow the same mindset.Maintain strong connections.Although we each strive to be the architect of our own successful future, we must admit that none of us operate in isolation- we are all part of a collective of individuals whom we support and draw support from, an d nurturing these relationships is often a crucial step towards achieving success. According to the Forbes article, â€Å"†¦highly successful professionals understand that they cannot achieve their visions alone or in a vacuum.  They invest time and energy in building mutually-beneficial relationships, and solid bonds and energizing partnerships that last over time.† On your journey to success, be sure to recognize, value, and take care of these important relationships- and build new ones along the way.If you’re relatively new to the world of work and are in the early stages of your career path, consider following these helpful guidelines to help you either define what a successful future looks like for you, or to help you achieve the goals you have set for yourself and find success. Good luck!

Crime And Behavioral Genetics Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Crime And Behavioral Genetics - Research Paper Example To gain an in depth insight of this hypothesis, this paper will outline an annotated bibliography of three journals: Gou, G. Roettger, M. Cai, T. (2008). The Integration of Genetic Propensities into Socio- Control Models of Delinquency and Violence among Male Youths, American Sociological Review, 73 (4); 543-568; Ferguson, C. J. (2010). Genetic contributions to antisocial personality and behavior: A meta-analytic review from an evolutionary perspective, The Journal of Social Psychology, 150(2), 160-80, and Stone, R. D. (2003). The cloudy crystal ball: Genetics, child abuse, and the perils of predicting behavior. Vanderbilt Law Review, 56(5), 1557-1590 that have delineated the relationship between genes and crime. The annotated bibliography will be aimed at addressing the specific title of how genetics play a role in crime. Gou, G. Roettger, M. Cai, T. (2008). The Integration of Genetic Propensities into Socio- Control Models of Delinquency and Violence among Male Youths. American Soc iological Review, 73 (4), 543-568 As pertains to the author’s background, this journal is work of four authors. Guang Guo was a professor at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill and teaches sociology. He was also a member of the faculty at Carolina Population Center and Carolina Center for Genomic Sciences at the same University. Michel E. Roettger was a PHD candidate at the same University and his thesis statement sought to examine social inequality in relationship to the US criminal justice system. Tianji Cai a PHD holder at the same university was interested in sociological research methods that aimed at addressing how biology interplayed with the society. Intended audience of this journal article was the delinquent civil societies, the parents, the genetics departments and the criminal society. The objective of the study was to examine the effects of genes on violent delinquency by examining three genetic polymorphisms: 40-bp VNTR in the DATI gene, the 30-bp prom oter- region VNTR in the MAOA gene, and the Taq1 polymorphism in the DRD2 gene. Data used was collected from DNA subsample obtained from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. The study was based on a population size of 1,100 males whose DNA and measures to control their social behavior was available for incorporation in the study. The results of the study illustrated that there was a positive interaction between DATI, MAOA, and DRD2 and the deliquescent behavior reported among the males involved in the study. An interaction was reported between MAOA gene and DRD2 gene in association with having a family meal. The results illustrated that a weaker socio cultural involvement of the family and the school processes flared up the gene expression in deliquescent individuals. Social issues play a paramount role in the gene expression of the individuals who engaged in deliquescent behavior. Individuals who possessed a 2R allele as evidenced in the MAOA*2 genotype, upon repea t of a grade, they exhibited serous delinquency compared to individuals who did not express the 2R allele gene in their genotype. Repeating a grade and its influence in expression of MAOA*2 was attributed to the interference in the individuals social relationship with his peers, ridicule by his peer. They were also predisposed to feelings of shame, inadequacy, humiliation, and confusion weakening their bonds to social support structures

Catharine Beecher and Charlotte Perking Gilman Essay Example for Free

Catharine Beecher and Charlotte Perking Gilman Essay In the article â€Å"Catharine Beecher and Charlotte Perking Gilman: Architects of female power† the author attempts to compare and contrast the convictions and beliefs of Charlotte Gilman and, her great-aunt, Catharine Beecher. One of the most important factors that is seen repeatedly in the article, is the concept that the environment encompassing the home is the center of all commerce for a woman. This thought process continues to build and establishes the idea that what begins in the home continues to radiate out into the lives of the woman and her family. Each female author further attempted to define the roles of a woman directly corresponding with the roles beginning in a woman’s private life and extending into the public life. Although Catharine Beecher and Charlotte Gilman had completely different interpretations of this ideology, the fact that the foundation of the argument was the same purports that the concept, regardless of interpretation, could have some basis on reality. The author of this article, Valerie Gill, very thoroughly cites from not only Catharine Beecher’s books â€Å"A Treatise on Domestic Economy† and â€Å"American Woman’s Home,† but also from Charlotte Gilman’s book â€Å"Moving the Mountain† and several of her lectures and articles including an article titled â€Å"Applepieville.† Gill (1998) states, that â€Å"Like Catharine Beecher, Gilman links the role of the women to the general health of the social system; the dependent and isolated situation of women in their homes†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (p. 2). Gill (1998) goes on to further state that â€Å"In spite of their different strategies for defining and locating women, however, Beecher and Gilman share an interest in the topography of female experience† and that â€Å"Both writers conceptualize the identity of women in spatial as well as socioeconomic terms, assuming that the fulfillment of their own sex can be quite literally mapped o ut.† (p. 2). The article then moves into much greater detail, analyzing each woman’s many forms of printed material. The extent and degree of information and detail written in this article about each represented author and their contributing works can ultimately be  seen as one of the articles main strengths. However, although this article gives a vast amount of information on the women’s opinions and beliefs the article at times seems disassembled and erratic. The flow of the article is somewhat hard to follow, and without an increased measure of concentration, the ability of the reader to comprehend and decipher whom the author is speaking of can be lost. Also, with the extensive amounts of information and detail that each female author contributes to the argument, readers are bombarded with data to interpret and distinguish upon. With the author of the article not decisively choosing the strongest points of argument from each author, the information becomes overwhelming and possibly confusing at times. The article â€Å"Catharine Beecher and Charlotte Perking Gilman: Architects of female power† attempts to give readers two different perspectives of a woman’s role in her home and how this affects her presence in society. Readers are given a multitude of supporting facts from both women’s interpretations on the topic. This fact, in certain circumstances, proves to be not only a strength of the article but also a weakness. Regardless of how each woman author interpreted these ideals, the simple fact remains clear that each assumed the role and presence of a woman becomes clearly defined as beginning in the home. Essay --

This paper will address recent trajectories of college tuition, fees, and financial aid in order to assess the extent to which fiscal assistance has kept pace with increases in tuition. Agenda setting constructs will then be used to contexualize this relationship, as well as student loan debt in general, and to identify applications of this issue to macro level social work practice. Trends in Tuition, Fees, and Financial Aid Among public four-year institutions, the average cost of tuition and fees has increased by 2.9 percent for the 2013-2014 academic year, rising to $8,893 for in-state students. This trend was mirrored among out-of-state public four-year institutions as well; tuition and fees increased by 3.1 percent from $12,887 to $13,310. With regard to private four-year universities, the average cost of tuition and fees increased by 3.8 percent, a difference of $1,105. Although it appears as though the momentum of tuition increases has continued, it is important to note that the ascension of published costs between the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years is the lowest proportion in increase over the past 30 years. That is, tuition and fees are continuing to increase with each academic year, however the percentage by which they do so is actually decreasing (Baum & Ma, 2013). When assessing college affordability, it is important to not only understand trends in tuition costs, but it is also necess ary to differentiate between the published costs of schools and the net prices that full-time students actually pay throughout their enrollment. Tuition and fees might vary according to reciprocity agreements between adjacent states, duration of enrollment, and student aid disbursements; these are all factors which could impact th... ...tarian education policies that make college more affordable and accessible in order to promote a competitive labor market and cultivate a proficient workforce. Conclusion Although the inflation of tuition and fees among post secondary institutions has begun to subside, the trajectory of federal financial aid and grant assistance has become increasingly unable to compensate for this trend. Increases in tuition and, subsequently, student loan debt can be attributed to agenda setting initiatives that supplement revenue losses, but simultaneously marginalize many students and increase the inaccessibility of higher education. In effect, the byproducts of tuition increases underscore the importance of macro-level social work practice and its ability to critically reframe fiscal education policies that best promote the economic welfare of students and their communities.

Communication Today

Many people have started taking short cuts in our modern world. The human population is doing everything they can to speed through life. One such short cut is the way society communicates. Though out the last several decades the technology that has connected all walks of life has dramatically changed, it went from word of mouth to the written word, to telephones and beyond. Now texting and wall postings are forms of communicating with friends and family all over the world. Many believe that these kinds of networks are destroying our communications as a society. However, these networks allow people to stay in constant connection with many people at once, they are convenient, and safe to use. Social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace and many others connect people to all their friends and extended family members all at once in a number of ways. One such way is by statuses update which is when people say what is on their minds or what they might be doing that day. Another is posting pictures of just about anything so that family members who otherwise wouldn’t see them until a get together if at all could see them. People who are no longer near their loved ones benefit the most from these status updates. This constantly updated form of communication is almost as good as being with the loved one. With people all over the world using networking sites they have become more excusable, from being available at local public libraries to the convenience of being at the ready on a personal cell phone or other hand held devices free of charge. The convenience this has added allows people to not only update their statues at any time, but also post pictures of what is going on in their daily lives on the spot no matter where they are from their wireless devices. This enables all the friends and family connected to that persons page to know what is going on in someone's life who they may not get a chance to talk to on a daily bases. Facebook as well as many other sites are very safe to use (if the proper measures are taken) that everyone has started making pages, from kids in middle school all the way up to those kids grandparents. Such sites allows the user to set it up their page anyway they want. They give many choices on who is allowed to view that particular page. The options consist of blocking the page from everyone who is not on the user’s friends list and not being able to be found in a search, to having a completely open page where anyone can see all that the sight as to offer. †¨Most of these sights also have restrictions to where would be users are blocked from using the sites at all, or with other such precautions Everyday people are becoming afraid that our communication between friends and families are breaking down a little more every second. This is simply not true; in fact it is the opposite because of how rapidly technology is changing it allowing us to communicate at any given moment with all our friends and family. With statues updates and wall postings at our finger tips we are more connected at any given moment now than ever before. Sites like Myspace, Facebook, and many other are the main way that people in today’s society communicate do to the face that as a group we are speeding through life at warp speed.
